Youngs Farm

Youngs Farm

Founded in 1893, Youngs Farm is one of the few remaining working farms in Nassau County in Long Island, New York. Looking to expand from their brick-and-mortar market into online ordering, Youngs Farm commissioned Elixir to develop an online store that was as beautiful as the farm is in real life, with digital homes for everything the farm has to offer—not only fresh, organic produce, but also scores of homemade soups, baked goods, and pantry staples. The build included custom filtering and speciality check-out, allowing the Youngs Farm team to set up specific time slots for pickup—crucial for their annual holiday pie rush.

Photographer and long-time Elixir collaborator John Dolan visited the farm multiple times to capture the farm, products, and team in various seasons.

For the site’s homepage, food stylist Laura Kinsey Dolph worked with John to capture a broader array of Youngs Farm’s offerings.

To add a little texture, we created hand-drawn maps illustrating what the area has to offer for visitors, as well as a map detailing the property, as many visitors don’t realize how extensive Youngs Farm really is (it includes multiple greenhouses, a bakery, kitchen, and more). We also populated the site with small details like custom iconography and small illustrations tucked in a few corners.

We loved the type on the carved wooden sign at the entrance to the farm, and vectorized it to create an updated (yet actually original) logotype.
