Jane The Bakery

A case could be made that a city is only as good as its coffeehouses; no wonder San Francisco is world class. We were quite excited when one of our favorite local clients, Amanda Michael, informed us she was opening a “punk-rock tea house” named after her daughter: Jane. We developed a whimsical and gritty identity system, carrying black flags and decorative gothic elements that complimented the high contrast interiors.

As a studio, we present clients with 3+ approaches, and in this case, the client wanted to run with a handful of the directions initially presented, embracing multiple gritty logos as part of her identity system.

The die cut hanging signage was designed to have “JANE” be read from either side of the sign.

The packaging system included a regular line and one for holiday treats.

In 2021, Amanda Michaels came back to us looking for a redesign of some of Jane’s new products: introducing a lot more color into the system through their teas and custom illustrations for their granolas.
